Salad with caramelised plums

Today I brought you a salad with caramelised plums in the baked pumpkin. The combination of plum and pumpkin is just delicious! ❤ But before I tell you the recipe, I'll tell you a little bit about me and my love for the region:)
When I moved from the countryside to the big city ten years ago, I was thrilled with the huge culinary offer. At every corner there is the Cologne food and even own small supermarkets from different countries. Of course there are Turkish and Thai shops and shelves full of Russian and Italian specialties. What I initially found great and exciting, but I was quickly overwhelmed. As the saying goes: What the farmer does not know, he does not eat.
An Eifel Girl in Cologne
Originally I came from the beautiful Eifel, which is often recognized by my light dialect. Here I was used to processing almost exclusively regional food. I always bought asparagus directly at the field, potatoes and eggs were fresh from the farmers in the small village shop and tomatoes, salads, herbs and plums galore in grandpa's garden. Already as a child I loved to harvest the local delicacies armed with rubber boots and garden gloves. And even if I feel totally comfortable in Cologne, the country life definitely has its advantages.
Regional food from the Rhineland
But here in the Rhineland there are great regional products and I was soon a regular customer at the Cologne weekly markets.:)
I could still Never understand why in the summer you have to buy carrots from Israel or apples from New Zealand. The regional foods taste much more aromatic and fresher. They know where they come from and by the way support their homeland.
There's no question - I also eat mangoes from Brazil, bananas from Colombia and avocados from South Africa. But whenever I can feed myself regionally, I do it too! Personally, this is much, much more important than any organic seal. So I am very happy to be part of this year's REWE Regional Action Week.
# 7xregional - 7 Food Bloggers, 7 Days, 7 Weeks Regional Products
Together with six other bloggers from different regions of Germany, I face the challenge to eat as exclusively as possible regionally for a week. I will give up my beloved watermelon this week and instead eat crisp apples, freshly harvested potatoes and pumpkins, sweet plums, aromatic tomatoes, fresh eggs and crunchy salads from the Rhineland. Under the # 7xregional I take you on Instagram to the Cologne weekly markets and of course to REWE. Because all REWE Regional products come exclusively from the surrounding area.
On the REWE action page you will find all information on # 7xregional as well as great recipes from my bloggers. Colleagues.
Caramelized Plum Salad
The main ingredients of my recipes this week are plums. Sweet-aromatic stone fruit definitely has its big day on the planet Plum cake, but also plums are very versatile in the kitchen and even go well with hearty dishes.
Have you ever combined pumpkin with plums? Not? Then you should definitely try it.Yes, even in cereal they taste sensational.Add the oil and season to taste with salt, pepper and sugar.
REWE 7xregional raffle
Today, I am granting each of my readers a REWE shopping voucher worth € 100 raffle. That would save the next weekend shopping! :)
Just write me a comment which is your favorite regional dish and you have the chance to win. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
